2009 Silver Kookaburra - Pics

One of my lamps died as I was setting up so I did not really get the shot I was imagining. I overcame this by opening a bottle of Merlot and experimenting with some extreme lighting. Enjoy

Very nice pictures of a lovely coin. Do you happen to know the significance of the P20 stamp?

P20 is a Perth Mint mark for this coin. It is the 20th anniversary of the Kook.

The 1st shot is the one for me. Remarkable clarity. You still using that little Canon P&S?

I note that you have the same source of inspiration as I do. :coolbeer:

I'll go with shot 2, the contrast from shiny to frosty really catches my eye.
It makes the surface look deep, almost 3-D.:23_28_100s:

Yeah still with the little canon... I completely submersed it in water the other day when a wave hit it. Still works!

Did you know that guy on the jetty?

Can't tell you how much I would hate doing that to my camera and lens!!!!

BTW: I'm going to get an unusual photo op tomorrow afternoon. I'll be going with my brother-in-law back to a place where we picked up some material a week or so back. We were on a country road passing farms in the middle of nowhere boondocks of the Florida panhandle and came around a corner and there in a field was an Honest-To-God Russian Mig 23 in German Democratic Republic markings!!!!! It looked to be complete and was sitting on it's landing gear. Sukhoi Fan would have freaked and I did too. I was riding and didn't have a camera. I will shoot that tomorrow. I have been all around the US and some other countries and am quite certain that I haven't seen any complete Russian fighter jets just sitting in farm fields.

Great photos of a pretty coin. I just got a 1 oz Kook off Fleabay. It looks like a bird with a real attitude.

No. That was posted on a local conservation site I belong to.

I look forward to seeing a pic of that MiG. I have some pics (not by me) of GDR planes with very wild paint schemes.

These birds really make you laugh with their antics!
I had a couple of these birds in my backyard squabbling over territory. One bird grabbed the other during a tussle and both fell off the branch and slammed into the dirt with a mighty thump. They dusted themselves off, called a truce and flew they separate ways.
I also like their early wake up calls. Definitely not for night owls.
They start gently around 4 am and an hour later it's a symphony.
